چکیده

Real-time hybrid simulation (RTHS) is a testing method by which structural system divided into analytical and experimental substructures. This paper proposes methodology to conduct RTHS for structures that use passive nonlinear viscous dampers (NLVDs), some of are physically tested in the substructure others via online model updating (OMU). The proposed uses response modelled NLVD improve prediction numerically NLVDs. An explicit solution constitutive relations Nonlinear Maxwell Model (NLMM) perform non-iterative real-time state determination damper using NLMM. performed Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF). two-story reinforced concrete structure subjected strong earthquake ground motions (including both near-field far-field recorded records) validate procedure.

Viscous + Dahl model for MR dampers characterization: A Real time hybrid test (RTHT) validation

Magnetorheological dampers have raised as promising devices for structural seismic protection since they have many attractive features such as small power requirements, reliability, and relatively low cost. These devices have strongly nonlinear behaviour which is very difficult to characterize. For this reason, the modelling of MR dampers has been an active field during the last years and has p...

A hybrid deformable model for real-time surgical simulation

Modeling organ deformation in real remains a challenge in virtual minimally invasive (MIS) surgery simulation. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid deformable model to simulate deformable organs in the real-time surgical training system. Our hybrid model uses boundary element method (BEM) to compute global deformation based on a coarse surface mesh and uses a mass-spring model to simulate the...

Simulation of a Neutron Detector for Real Time Imaging Applications

Monte Carlo Method is used to simulate a double layer gadolinium-amorphous silicon thermal neutron detector. The detector fabricated in pixel array configuration has various applications including neutron imaging. According to the simulation results, a detector consisting of a gadolinium (Gd) film with thickness of 2-4 ~m, sandwiched properly with two layers of sufficiently thick (-30 ?µm) hydr...

Real-time Identification of Magneto-rheological Dampers

Modeling of magneto-rheological dampers to be used in semi-active control of civil engineering structures is addressed. The behavior of this kind of dampers is modeled through a first order Lugre dynamic friction model whose structure is analytically simpler than other dynamic friction models used in the literature. With this structure real-time parametric identification of the magneto-rheologi...

Hybrid Mesh Generation for Viscous Flow Simulation

This paper presents a robust and automated approach to generate unstructured hybrid grids comprised of prismatic and tetrahedral elements for viscous flow computations. The hybrid mesh generation starts from a triangulated surface mesh. The prismatic elements are extruded based on the weak solutions of the Eikonal equation to generate anisotropic elements at boundaries, and finally the isotropi...
